This cast is great, Julia Roberts, Ryan Reynolds, Willem Dafoe, Emily Watson, Carrie-Ann Moss and the list goes on... Watching this trailer made me tear up instantly... what do you think? interested in this film?

2011 MTV Video Music Awards...
I have mixed emotions about last nights VMAs... some really great performances, even if your not a fan of the music or the artist, but if you have much love for music, you can give respect when deserved. I'll be completely honest, best performance goes to Adele, hands down. I get chills with that voice of hers and you can tell she is an emotional person especially with that song, 'Someone Like You'. Beyonce's performance was great (she sang 'Love on Top') and loved the ending - obviously, by the time she was performing, most people knew that she had just confirmed she was pregnant with her first child with husband, rapper, entrepreneur, iconic Jay-Z. At the end of her performance she unbuttons her jacket to reveal a small bump and starts circling the belly and camera moves onto Jay-Z who is glowing, like really glowing of pure joy, happiness, love and admiration for his wife, the mother of his baby. Kanye West stood next to him, hugging and obviously being that they are so close, he is super happy for his friends, which is nice. Speaking of Jay-Z and Kanye.. they also did a surprise performance of their hit, 'Otis'. The indie rock band, Young the Giant, were awesome - totally rocked the place with the song I personally like 'My Body' - I thought they were going to play the other single, 'Cough Syrup', which is good - but I like 'My Body' better. The rest of the performances were good, Lady Gaga, was joined by legendary Queen's guitarist, Brian May - a little disappointed in the audience to have not given them a standing ovation, just alone for Brian May, a legend. HELLO people. Anyway... you can check out all the performances (including Lil'Wayne, Cobra Starship, and Chris Brown) on MTV's website.
Britney Spears was given the MTV's Vanguard Award... Lady Gaga in her alter ego, Joe, introduced Britney and she said some really nice and true things about Britney. When the cameras would turn to Britney, she looked like she was tearing up, which was sweet. Britney wanted to be an entertainer since she was a little girl and her dreams came true. She may have had some up and downs and people can joke about pop singers and music, but it's a part of music history. And that is in fact something she has made herself, contributed much to the music industry, whether it be sales, tours, or some drama - it's in the books. And then Russell Brand and Tony Bennett spoke for the tribute to Amy Winehouse, which Bruno Mars sang Mark Ronson song, 'Valerie' which Amy was featured in and made the song what it is and Ronson and Winehouse were really great friends, so its really perfect.

Blackthorn... trailer
For some reason Sam Shepard has been one of those actors that I really enjoy on screen. His presence has alway been so significant even when he is in supporting roles, either way, I just think he is a brilliant actor. If you don't know Sam Shepard, please look him up - he has a great background, some interesting footnotes involving Patti Smith, theater and in film, you have Baby Boom, Stealing Magnolias, Black Hawk Down, The Notebook and so many more. In October, Blackthorn will be released and basically Sam Shepard will be playing Butch Cassidy. Check out the trailer...
The Rum Diary Official Trailer [HD] -- Johnny Depp
Johnny Depp, one of the best actors - EVER. PERIOD. If you know Johnny Depp, you would know that he and Hunter S. Thompson had a close relationship and being that this film is based on one of Thompson's novel, you know that Depp put a lot of love into this. The trailer looks fun, interesting and the cast seems outstanding. Besides the great Depp, you have Aaron Eckhart, Giovanni Ribisi, Richard Jenkins, Bill Smitrovich and Amber Heard.

Aaliyah -- it's been 10 years
It's strange but I can still remember where I was when I heard about Aaliyah's death over the radio. I remember thinking, no way, it must be a bad, terrible, dumb rumor. But unfortunately, it was true and Aaliyah had passed away at the age of 22. But in the years that she was doing what she was so happy in doing - she accomplished a lot. I don't think any R&B/Urban Pop singer out there has come close. Don't get me wrong the singers out there now (most of them) have good voices and they are doing their thing but Aaliyah was special. Something about her... but anyway, just wanted to remember her today and post some of my favorite videos and songs... and she had so much to pick from and some awesome collaborations so added some of those too. But here you go... and the very last video just gave me chills and got me all teary. We still missing you, Aaliyah Dana Haughton.
Frances Bean Cobain
I was having reservations about posting anything about Kurt Cobain & Courtney Love's daughter, Frances Bean. Her birthday just passed and she turned 19 and decided to go ahead and post something just because I'm not coming from a bad place and wanted to share these amazing beautiful photos that have recently popped up in the past two, three weeks and just wow - gorgeous.
I'm glad to see that she has not become the cliche of those others that are born into the world of celebrity. She has kept a quiet still life style - so much, that we never really see her or hear about her - except last year when she was showcasing her art, drawings. The photos that have been released recently are very bittersweet. I'm not sure how others feel but at times I want to give her a hug and say I great and proud, but yet her eyes have a tendency of being melancholy (she has her fathers eyes) and yet still looks like the mom as well. She literally got both of her parents in her face, but yet I can't feel bad for being curious about her because she must be a little bit apprehensive having people who are fans of her parents or her parents band and look at her oddly. Her face does say alot but what do you see?
Here are the links to see the rest of them....

River Phoenix
River Phoenix is one of my favorite actors (his younger brother Joaquin is also on my list) and I really wish we could have all seen what he would have been doing now. I was 12 years old when he passed away; if he were still alive, he would have turned 41 yesterday... Besides being an actor, he was a great singer, musician, an animal and environmental activist.
Obviously, Stand by Me and My Private Own Idaho is on my list for great performances, but my favorites were actually, Running on Empty, That Thing Called Love and Dogfight. I've posted a few clips from my favorites. He received a Golden Globe and an Oscar nomination for his work on Running on Empty - I think that is one of the most heartfelt performances. He and Martha Plimpton (romance off-screen as well) shine together. That Thing Called Love was a good movie, really enjoyed watching him perform and the characters difficulty - he had such a great voice. And Dogfight, well, a very sweet, poignant love story but also so good in showing the reality of how innocent these young people were and for those who did return from Vietnam how unfamiliar things looked once they returned - a very touching movie.
I'll leave you with a quote by River Phoenix, 'It's a great feeling to think that I can be a friend to so many people through my movies.' Thanks for being my friend.

Lykke Li - I Follow Rivers (Director: Tarik Saleh)
Tarik Saleh directs another odd but powerful video (directed 'Sadness is a Bleassing') for the talented Lykke Li, 'I Follow Rivers' is a very dramatic song- check out the very ending of the embrace. Loved the chorus since I first heard it a few months back. Lately, I can't get the song out of my head... maybe it's because the song is now featured on a commercial for the upcoming kick ass chick movie, Colombiana starring the pretty kick ass Zoe Saldana. If you haven't seen the trailer, watch it out here, http://youtu.be/gn-yBWBFHi4
Eminem Feat Bruno Mars & royce da 5'9 - Lighters [Official Music Video] ...
You all know that I'm a HUGE fan of Eminem.. respect his music, him as a rapper and as a person. I give him a lot of credit for how he chose to handle everything. I respect him as a person because of how he vents everything out, he is extremely honest in putting all his thoughts, feelings, ideas in his words. Takes a lot of guts to be THAT honest and not worry about the repercussions of people disliking you or in this case, buying albums. But Eminem has gone through a lot and constantly battles his way back and I have to admit for me lyrically this guy is totally awesome. He was actually just named the King of Rap Music by Rolling Stone Magazine - do you agree? I would love to hear your thoughts, let me know... and enjoy this video.
People don’t usually come back this way
From a place that was dark as I was in
Just to get to this place
Now let these words be like a switch blade to a haters rib cage
And let it be known from this day forward
I wanna just say thanks cause your hate is what gave me the strength
So let em bic’s raise cause I came with 5’9′ but I feel like I’m 6’8″

Texas Killing Fields - Official Trailer 2011
Another film with a good cast, Chloe Grace Moretz, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Sam Worthington, Annabeth Gish, Jessica Chastain and more... films that are based on a true story or inspired by true events always intrigue me because they are scary but smart too. Any one else got chills watching this trailer?
Carnage - Trailer
Great cast in this film, Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, John C. Reilly and Christopher Waltz... how can this go wrong? I also think the concept of the film is pretty cool and different...

The Strokes - Taken for a Fool (Official Music Video)
I've been wanting to post this video... one of coolest songs from one (if not the best) album of this year, Angles. This video is just fun and you can see the band just have a real chill time. Love the way the band looks right at the end-especially lead singer Julian.
"Back" Dave Patten Official Music Video [HD]
wow... just saw this video and the words totally caught me and I had to hunt this video and share it. I am constantly thinking and reflecting on life - good and bad. I have no clue if things really do happen for a reason or you really are supposed to learn from your mistakes, I would like to believe that I, that we all do. I also like the humor at the last verse when he sings, 'Winner' haha - funny. I've also posted the first verse of this song.. hope you enjoy it as well.
I want to go back to the old days, back to better times I want to relive the beauty that ran out of my life Back to the old me, back as far as I'd like I wouldn't change it I just want to experience it twice

Red Hot Chili Peppers - The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie [Official Mu...
Either you love them or hate them.. but either way, you have to give credit when credit is due. This band has never been one to bullshit and they would not do anything that they really didn't enjoy or like. Red Hot Chili Peppers are an iconic band already but they keep coming back with a strong album time and time again. Anthony Kiedis is another person who I think has a great voice and his sound is so distinctive; Flea is one of best bassists ever (& energetic) and Chad Smith is so much fun to watch on drums. Now this time around they have a new guitarist, Josh Klinghoffer who the band met through the previous guitarist, John Frusciante. John has to be one of the best guitarists out there.. something about him, watching him play - just real, real cool. However, he decided not to continue and left the band right before they started working on this upcoming new album, I'm With You, and thats when the guys invited Josh to join them.
These guys are continuing to break records with top charting songs. 'The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie' is their twelfth #1 single. After almost 30 years, these are still rocking out and just want to grow and continue to do better and this album supposedly is just that - just new stuff, new ideas, a continuation of growth as a band. It's exciting to hear artists so excited about their work-makes us listeners even more eager to grab that album.. so don't forget on August 30th to go buy that!
Here is the first video (to accompany the first single) which was shot in Malibu... just a real chill fun video.

THE DARKEST HOUR - Trailer
Love when I'm watching a trailer and I tense up... like this cast a lot. Emile Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby, Rachael Taylor and Max Minghella. It also helps having that intense background song with the trailer.. smart move. What do you think, did it catch your interest?

We Are Augustines - Chapel Song (official video & lyrics)
I heard this song about 2 weeks ago and then the video and I couldn't help but post this! Just a real cool song and I really like the video... Does anyone else think it's super cool? I noticed one thing I thought they could have done in the video (can you guess?) but other than that... very cool. I went ahead and posted the lyrics as well.. just think its an awesome song/video and the band is from NY (Brooklyn, I believe) so definitely have to show some love for the east coast bands! Let me know you think....
Well there goes my girl
Into the chapel
Now she's walking down the aisle
And it feels just like a mile
And I shake shake shake like a leaf
And I'm lyin' lyin' lyin' through my teeth
I got a pocket full of handshakes
And it don't mean nothin'
There goes my girl
Into the chapel
Now she's walking down the aisle
And her man begins to smile
And I shake shake shake like a leaf
And I'm lyin' lyin' lyin' through my teeth
I'm a bowl of bruised fruit
Inside a chapel of shiny apples
Tear up the photograph!
'cause it's a bright blue sky
Tear up the photograph!
'cause it's a bright blue sky
Tear up the photograph!
'cause it's a bright blue sky
Tear up the photograph!
'cause it's a bright blue sky
Well there goes my girl
Into the chapel
Now she's walking down the aisle

Emily's Army - Broadcast This (official video)
Okay, I just had to post this video... 1) LOVE punk music, 2) love seeing kids/teenagers rock out to punk music (and playing their instruments), and 3) this song was simply good and fun.
And of course, while I'm looking them up and trying to find out who they are, what other songs they have - I discover that they have an interesting story. The name of their band, Emily's Army is such a personal story... please go to their website and read up on them... http://emilysarmyband.com
and how shocked was I when I found out the drummer Joey, is Green Day's very own Billie Joe Armstrong's son and the band is under Billie Joe's record company, Adeline Records and he actually produced their album, Don't Be A Dick. [I can't believe Billie Joe has a teenage son already..haha].
So check them out and let me know what you think of this song and these young punksters!

And the Nirvana Nevermind Countdown continues...
One more month until the official 20th Anniversary... I can't believe it! It's embarrassing to say, I wasn't even in my teens when Nevermind was released. But it didn't take long for me to fall for this band and for the lead singer and after all this time be a complete fan still.
I'm still in complete amazement by the sound of this band and I always wonder would I feel this way if Kurt was still around. Would I feel so close, so protective, so easily pulled like a magnet to this band? Or would 'the band' somehow eventually ruin it for me? I've thought of this several times with various scenarios, but at the end... Nirvana was an iconic band. Nirvanas' Nevermind changed the game... iconic album. Kurt Cobain an icon and legend.
So I've noticed that one of the videos from one of my previous posts was removed... and it is one of my favorite songs from the Unplugged album - so I had re-post the song, 'Jesus Don't Want Me for A Sunbeam'.
I've also posted one of the funnest songs off Nevermind album... 'Stay Away' just a fun sounding song to me. I've included some of the lyrics (written by Cobain) above the video.
One more thing, over the weekend while I was running around my house, I caught a song playing in the background and the lyrics caught my attention... I hear 'Come As You Are' but it's not Kurt's voice and definitely not Nirvana sounding. I of course ran to the TV, but missed who was singing, more like covering my Nirvana. Who is this? So after much research, I finally found her last night before going to bed. Her name is Yuna and she has stated in interviews that she has always loved that song and she would often play it when she was live and decided to record it since the song means so much to her. So check it out and let me know what you think?
And until next month... enjoy!

Kate Moss & Jamie Hince -- Wedding--Vogue Gallery
Had to post about this wedding for a few reasons, 1) photographs were taken by my favorite photographer, Mario Testino; 2) Kate Moss is an icon in the model/fashion industry and 3) the wedding seemed to be very poetic, romantic with a little bit of rock and roll, which would make sense since her husband Jamie Hince is the guitarist for the band, The Kills. Please check out all the photos that www.vogue.com and Kate Moss were nice enough to share.... my favorite is the last picture of Moss with her beautiful little girl, Lily Grace -- such a wonderful picture of mother and daughter, really gorgeous.

Jay-Z & Kanye West - Otis (Official Music Video)

Best Coast -- Our Deal (Extended Version)
I had posted the first video..which was basically half of the original... and being that Drew Barrymore is the coolest chick EVER... had to post this extended version. You will see all the actors I previously listed and Donald Glover and Shailene Woodley....
The Odd Life of Timothy Green Trailer
Such an emotional trailer... imagine the actual movie. Whoa.... Jennifer Garner and Joel Edgerton will be making me sob, just know it.
2011 MTV Music Awards Promo with Britney Spears
Check this promo out for the award show at the end of the month.. whats up with the ending 'Tribute to Britney Spears'? However... in the video they are playing Madonna, Janet Jackson and Michael Jackson songs.. it is the 30th anniversary! I can't wait for this years awards... hopefully it will be in the books for one of the best.
Ryan Gosling....
Ryan Gosling has to be one of the most talented and attractive actor of my generation... Esquire Magazine did a real cool article on him - telling a tale of hanging out with him in NY for one night... here are some pictures from the article.
I am really excited about his upcoming movie Drive... it looks intense and he seemed to really have enjoyed the experience of making the film. You can see him in Crazy, Stupid, Love now in theaters... he completely stole the movie - really wish he had more screen time! For his first actual comedy film - he was witty, funny and just really worked with Emma Stone, another young actress that has it. So go see this film and Drive.....and don't forget to read the article from www.esquire.com

Demi Lovato -- Elle Magazine....
Okay, so I'll be the first one to admit that I'm a little hesitant giving 'Disney' artists a chance... don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of the Disney icon and legend, but sometimes the actors/pop artists that come out of there are a little too bubbly for me. Not real enough... too super clean. However, Demi Lovato is one of those artists that I heard her voice a few years back and I was like wow, she has talent and has a beautiful face and an addictive laughter - but thats it, never really read up on her or investigated more about her. Last year though she got my attention, she willingly checked herself into a women's rehab center and was super honest with her fans and media on the reasons why. To be so young and to deal with issues of bulimia, anorexia, cutting and fighting depression she was 7 or 8 years old is so sad, but once she checked herself in she was diagnosed with bipolar disease. She spent a few months until she felt ready and decided to leave the Disney show she was on to concentrate on herself and her music - being in front of a TV, film scared her. I give her a lot of credit for sticking to her honesty of the good and pain that she has to overcome to be where she is now. She seems to be in a good place... and Elle magazine did an article on her and a photo shoot and I just wanted to share her story and the slideshow that Elle magazine put together is just really stunning... check it out.

Mysteries of Lisbon... film trailer (International Film)
The trailer looks great... intense. It's received a lot of good feedback at film festivals. Check it out...
Like Crazy -- film trailer....
Besides the great Elvis Presley cover 'I Can't Help Falling In Love', I'm a sucker for melancholy romance and this movie totally oozes that. It doesn't help that Anton Yelchin, Jennifer Lawrence, Felicity Jones and Charlie Bewley star in this film - some young but talented actors.

Best Coast -- Our Deal... old school idea but young actors & a super cool director!
Fun band, song and video… third song off this album and I'm totally hooked. And a big surprise, this video has a great young cast Chloe Moretz, Miranda Cosgrove, Alia Shawkat and Tyler Posey and the director is the super cool Drew Barrymore!!!
MTV on the air for 30 Years....
I am a big believer in respecting things that have created something different and I've always been the happiest listening to music and watching a video that makes me cry, laugh or think wow, that was so clever.
As a child, I remember watching Adam Curry religiously on MTV's Top 20 Countdown every Saturday singing into the pledge bottle as I dust the house and dress up like Madonna with my older sister's clothes... to this day you can still find me having one of the many MTV channels on in the room because I do enjoy discovering new music and enjoy being wowed by a video. I also enjoyed watching Downtown Julie Brown and Julie Brown, both women being totally quirky and fun in their own way, and of course we can't forget the all american Martha Quinn.
http://youtu.be/0rNfZxgkH7k
http://youtu.be/dXt8-RxRK44
We can't forget about Yo! MTV Raps with Ed Lover and Dr. Dre... a total cool thing for me because I grew up with a dad who loved his rock'n'roll, but the sounds rap had, was so different and fresh and again, MTV opened my music palette which made me want to learn more and discover the history of rap.
Of course, in my early teens I watched Real World NY and Real World San Francisco which were two of the most important reality TV shows EVER. I think it was a huge idea to have these young adults open their lives to the world especially to young people and some who lived in a closed world and were not open to different people. They got to see that everybody no matter what language you speak, what color your skin is, what music you listen to, or who you love, everyone deserves to be respected and deserve a chance. Judging someone by something - without really knowing someone is very unfair. Those first shows were so powerful... of course, everyone will remember Pedro from San Francisco. Heartbreaking, he lost his battle on the same day or last day of the final episode aired - but he was so honest and loving and was so helpful in putting the facts about HIV and AIDS out there for people who were unaware of this disease. Heather, Eric, Norman and Julie were just too fun to watch.. always made me laugh!
Real World then lead into Road Rules which for me Europe was and will always be the best ever. Unfortunately, we also lost one of the cast members from that season way too young. Oh, and I almost forgot the great 80s show, Remote Control... I remember Adam Sandler on that show, which is so funny to me.
Moving into the late 90s and early 2000s, TRL conquering NY's Times Square with teenagers who were in love with boy bands and pop stars and then we moved into pop rock and eventually MTV decided to shut TRL doors down. I remember Carson Daly introducing Kid Rock as a guest DJ for one of those Spring Break specials. It's insane to think of all the memories that I have with MTV and music is and will always be a part of me. Turning 30 is a big deal... yes, it is not even close to what it was, but they do have so many different channels now... makes me wish they had an MTV channel for vintage MTV... I would LOVE, LOVE to watch the old real worlds, road rules and old interviews from the original VJs.
I'm anticipating this years music awards at the end of August...although it's not the 30th anniversary of the actual award ceremony, but thinking they will do something to honor MTVs 30 years of music television. Without MTV, I would have had BET's 106 & Park when they were the only ones playing Alicia Keys 'Fallin' before it got popular, VH1 pop up videos or Behind the Music or CMT, GAC who played Lady Antebellums' big hit, 'Need You Know'.
I want to thank MTV for so much lessons learned and for the helping in adding music to my personal soundtrack. I decided to post the very first video EVER to play on MTV on August 1, 1981, The Buggles, 'Video Killed the Radio Star'...

Demi Lovato - Skyscraper...
I heard this song a few weeks ago and out of all the 'disney' girls that were coming up a few years back and were getting all this attention...Demi Lovato was one that stood out to me. And I really enjoyed her part in the We Are Kings song/video for 'We'll Be A Dream'. Obviously late last year and into early 2011, Lovato had been struggling with some stuff and to have this song as the first single off her upcoming album (should drop in September 2011) is so cool. The song itself is very honest and full of courage and I think Lovato is someone who is courageous to have a video that is saw raw and honest. I always feel for the younger people who are actors or musicians, media are tough on kids and teenagers...
I've also posted the video for We Are Kings... enjoy guys! #love1another
