Norah Jones.... new album!

I heard the first single, ‘Happy Pills’ and then saw the music video shortly after and I was hooked.  Norah Jones has a very cool, soothing and enchanting voice – and I have appreciated her voice and like her sound.  And obviously, everyone who knows about music and follows it, knows about Norah Jones and her amazing sound.   I also really enjoyed the Dolly Parton ‘Jolene’ cover at the 2011 Grammy’s with Keith Urban and John Mayer – would love to hear the whole song with those three singing it.  Sounded real, real good!  And hello, love the cover art for the cd!

For some reason, this album, Little Broken Hearts is sounding very different compared to her previous albums – something about it, I’m really enjoying.   Heartbreak is a familiar emotion for most people and when you hear songs that take you to which love hurt you in that matter or another song reminds you of another disappointment – it’s touches something familiar in you and good or bad; music has always helped me.  Basically, I heard the album, downloaded it and am very happy with it.   

 

This video looked different, loved the color schemes - visually really liked this video.

O.A.R. and B.O.B. - ‘Champions’

Last night on Jay Leno, B.O.B. and O.A.R. performed their 2012 Olympic Song, ‘Champions’ and I loved it!   Clearly a song full of hope, strength and rising above all.  Check out the following link to read further about it, http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/earshot/bob-oar-olympics-song-champions-321708

Also, B.O.B. released a new album last week, Strange Clouds and everyone should have bought it already. If not, go purchase that quick!  Few favorites for me (Ray Bands, Both of Us, So Good, Where are You).

Rest in Peace, Adam 'MCA' Yauch (Beastie Boys)

Beastie Boys is another band that I discovered as a kid and sang along to each hit, but later on, probably in my late teens, I really grasped the greatness that these three New York guys contributed to the rap/hip hop world.  Besides all the great hits, some of real favorite song are 'Girls'.  Heard it almost ten years after that song was released and heard it in Europe actually and the guys I was hanging out with played that song at every house party and it just brings a lot of good fun memories.  

 

Adam Nathaniel Yauch, also known as MCA, was one of the three guys who changed the rap/hip hop industry and sadly passed away – way too young. 

Besides being a great rapper, songwriter, he later on did some film directing.  He was a son, husband, father and philanthripost and a friend.  I have always read that Adam was one of the most sensitive guys you would ever be lucky to meet.  Just a real nice, caring guy.  

 

My heart breaks for his family because he was so young and his daughter is so young, but his kindness, his music, his foundation will continue.   My heart also breaks for the remaining memebers of the Beastie Boys, Michael Diamond (Mike D) and Adam Horovitz (Ad-Rock), just thinking of all that these three guys have shared since late teens/early 20s… their shared memories, heartaches, joys they have shared together as a band can never be taken away.  I hope they find closure in those moments that will last forever.  And as an outsider, as a fan, their legacy will continue, just as Adam’s kind heart and music talents will continue for decades to come.    Rest In Peace Adam, MCA (1964-2012).

R.I.P. Dick Clark = icon, legend.

Every time I hear Dick Clark, I automatically think of two things; American Bandstand and New Year’s Eve.   I was very young when American Bandstand was still airing and about 5 or 6 years old when it last aired.  But I do remember catching repeats on TV, I remember seeing Prince, The Time (The Walk), Madonna (Holiday and the famous response to Dick Clark 'To rule the world'), Cyndi Lauper (Girls just want to have fun & time after time), and many others.  

  

Richard Wagstaff Clark (Dick Clark) is as much part of my early childhood memories as Bruce Springsteen, Prince, Janet Jackson, Madonna and so many more were.   Most recently, the passing of Whitney Houston, Davy Jones, from The Monkees and this past weekend, the loss of Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys was very sad - such great talent.   As you may notice as well, all these individuals passed on with different ages which is another example of how you know never what tomorrow brings and should live life every day to the fullest. 

Without Dick Clark’s American Bandstand, there would not have been a Soul Train or a MTV’s Total Request Live (TRL) or any other music variety show.  He started a wonderful phenomenon and one of his great quotes was and happens to be a personal favorite, ‘music is the soundtrack of our life’.  So true, so true.    He also started another trend that I enjoyed, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve and for someone who doesn’t enjoy this specific holiday – his show made me forget the actual holiday and make it feel like an award show or a concert on my TV.  To this day, if I am home and am in reach of a television, I will choose to watch the holiday celebration with Dick Clark.  

My thoughts and prayers goes out to his family, friends and fans (like me!).    His legacy is in so much of the foundations of what still airs today on television and will continue for many generations to come.    Rest In Peace Mr. Dick Clark (1929-2012).

Busy time...

So it has been a busy week for me... was able to attend two concerts this week.  First was the great iconic, pure legend, one and only, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, and secondly was The Cranberries.  I will definitely write about them as well as post about the recent losses of Dick Clark and Adam 'MCA' Yauch, both these men were legendary in their own right.   Please bare with me while I try to post all these updates in the next few days.
