Upcoming Music Albums for the remainder of 2011...Can't wait to hear.

I'm looking forward to some album releases that are coming our way in the next few weeks into the end of the year.  Some of my own personal excitement to hear the following albums:

Coldplay - Mylo Xyloto:  This is one group that I literally always buy and never regret - ever since I heard and saw the video for 'Yellow' back in 2000.  Even if one album is better than the other, but there are always a few songs that I connect to.  Never fails - this is one of my trust worthy bands in the past decade.   I recently saw their performance on Jimmy Kimmel and heard the song called, 'Charlie Brown' and loved it.   I can't wait - I was going to buy their album regardless, but now getting antsy but luckily don't have to wait to long.  Anyone else excited?     Unfortunately, I haven't been able to see them play live, but am definitely going to try; heard they might do a tour in the Spring of 2012.. fingers crossed!


Lady Antebellum - Own the Night:  Okay, so I remember posting their performance back in November 2009 of 'Need You Know' and showing the video clip to all my best friends because it was a great song and wonderful performance.  Obviously they performed that song at other award shows that following year but that was the first and my favorite.   However, that song took off for them and that single was playing everywhere, on all kinds of radio stations and now they are going to release this new album.  The first single, 'Just a Kiss' is a hit already so I have no doubt this album will do real well.  They have released preview clips of them recording a few songs and they sound real good; 'When You Were Mine', 'Friday Night', 'As You Turn Away', 'Somewhere Love Remains', 'Singing Me Home' and 'Love I've Found in You'.  The video below is the just second video for this album, 'We Owned the Night'.

Blink 182 - Neighborhoods:  Ah, my fun punk band... how I missed these guys.  These guys have always been very cool and fun - ever since I heard, 'Dammit' in the wonderful teen film, Can't Hardly Wait - I was pretty much hooked with their pop punk sound.   They have had such great hits and have done real well, but in 2005 they went their separate ways but reconnected after drummer Travis Barker survived a plane crash (you guys probably all still remember that).  They are finally releasing this new album and they have released the audio for the first single, 'Up All Night' - really glad that they are back!


J. Cole - Cole World: The Sideline Story:  Okay, love, love 'Who Dat' song & video.. thought he sounded real good and it sounded fresh, but saw him perform live - he opened up for Rihanna's concert this summer and some songs were, I don't know, I wasn't really feeling it.  But Jay-Z heard him and signed him right away onto his label and I respect Jay-Z and I think he saw something in him - so definitely curious to see what happens.   The thing I really liked about J. Cole - when I wanted to find out who this guy was after I saw the video for 'Who Dat' and when I read interviews and read up on him, I mean, gotta give this young man some credit, he is VERY hands on of his material and his much love for the music and I gotta like him for that.  I heard he has some good collaborations so can't wait to hear more out of this album, but below is the first single/video, 'Work Out'.  Let me know what sample(s) you hear??


Drake - Take Care:  I'm a little surprised that Drake would be releasing a new album so close to have released his debut album, Thank Me Later, but this album is also very much anticipated.  There are a few songs out there, that he himself has released.  Of course on this new album, there will be a few collaborations but I have read that he supposedly said for this album, he was able to take more of a step back and listen to the music completely.   I wonder if he was disappointed in his first album?   Anyway, I like Drake, I think he is very open, emotional, strong and the love of music always inspires me.  Here are two songs of a few that have been released, 'Marvins Room' and 'Headlines' - check them out.



Other bands that might release something this year is Kelly, Clarkson, Florence and the Machine, Jane's Addiction, Lou Reed & Metallica, Demi Lovato, The Roots, Wilco and Young Jeezy - curious to see what they got.   Most recently, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blue October, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and Lenny Kravitz all released new albums - hope you guys went and bought those!   Please try to buy some albums at local record stores... trust me, I totally get the convenience of downloading off amazon or itunes, but we as people have the tendency of missing things once its gone - help in making a stop at a local store to buy the albums.

TANNER HALL - Trailer

I'm a little intrigued by this trailer.. now I want to see the movie. Rooney Mara (who is about to be everywhere after her upcoming film, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is released), Brie Larson (United States of Tara), Tom Everett Scott and Chris Kattan (I haven't seen these two on the big screen in a while). What about you? Interested in watching this movie?

What a cast, you got the greats such as Jeremy Irons, Paul Bettany, Kevin Spacey, Stanley Tucci, Simon Baker, Demi Moore and some younger actors, Penn Badgley and Zachary Quinto. A huge cast which means expectations will be pretty high...

The Get Up Kids-Shatter Your Lungs (Official Video)

The Get Up Kids have been around a long time... but never reached huge popularity.   But if you did know them, it was mostly from the 90s before EMO was cool or on the radio - a lot of pop/rock bands that were kicking butt on MTV's TRL found inspiration from them.  Anyway... they recently reunited and have a new album out and I actually caught this video, 'Shatter Your Lungs' real late over the weekend.   I decided to post another song I like, 'I'll Catch You'.  But check out some others like, 'Forgive & Forget', 'Wish You Were Here', 'My Apology' and 'Close to Home'.    You know I'm a sucker for sweet, painful and melancholy lyrics.

Marcus Foster -- 'I was Broken' Official Music Video ft. Kristen Stewart

Okay so I was curious to see this video because this is the first video Kristen Stewart was in but as soon as I heard the song, I knew.  I had heard but it was a different singer, it was Robert Pattinson singing this exact song.  After a few minutes, it all came back to me, I believe I posted this song when the first Twilight was released a few years ago.   When Pattinson performed it he did say the lyrics were by Marcus Foster.  Well, this song will be released on Fosters new album, released on September 19th.

The official video is honest, simple and both Stewart and Foster have a great face of sadness, loss and lost in terms of where to begin now.   Love videos that can be so emotional without trying too hard.   All bias aside for being a fan of Stewart and Pattinson, it is just a real poetic song and the video really works well with the lyrics and sound.  I also decided to post the audio of Robert Pattinson singing this live a few years back.  What do you think?

The Double - OFFICIAL TRAILER

I want to see this just for the cast... Richard Gere, Topher Grace, Martin Sheen, Stana Katic and Odette Yustman. You can't go wrong, right? It has happened... a great cast and the point of film got lost but these are some great actors and legendary, iconic ones at that. Worth watching definitely!!

2011 Venice Film Festival - My fashion favorites (1st Edition)...

Venice Film Festival started this week and George Clooney's new film, The Ides of March opened and the entire cast, Marisa Tomei, Evan Rachel Wood, Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Paul Giamatti attended the photo call and red carpet minus Ryan Gosling (believe he is filming a new movie in PA and could not attend).  Diane Kruger also attended and always she is just class act. This new film is definitely in my radar... and the entire cast looked fabulous!

Another cast that looked great was Carnage, Kate Winslet, John C. Reilly and Christoph Waltz - all looked so good!  Loved Kate Winslet's dress at the photo call... real simple but gorgeous.

The Gaslight Anthem "Bring It On"

I've been meaning to post this video for a few months now... so I apologize for the delay. NJ's very own The Gaslight Anthem. Latest video and I just read that they in the studio already recording for a new record. Also, the awesome Brian Fallon is also promoting his new side project, The Horrible Crowes, which the first album, Elsie, will be released next Tuesday, September 6, 2011, so go check that out. I'll share any information I get or hear about the next album from Gaslight Anthem but until then check this out and go back and hear your favorites by this band. And rediscover why you enjoy their albums and songs and you just might discover that some songs that were your favorite are no longer but found another favorite instead. Or maybe you'll just think they are all your favorites.. like I've always like 'We Did When We Were Young', but heard it this morning again and for some reason totally in love with this song right now and Brian's voice, so wonderfully melancholy. See go back and listen to the albums over and over...

This cast is great, Julia Roberts, Ryan Reynolds, Willem Dafoe, Emily Watson, Carrie-Ann Moss and the list goes on... Watching this trailer made me tear up instantly... what do you think? interested in this film?

2011 MTV Video Music Awards...

I have mixed emotions about last nights VMAs... some really great performances, even if your not a fan of the music or the artist, but if you have much love for music, you can give respect when deserved.   I'll be completely honest, best performance goes to Adele, hands down.  I get chills with that voice of hers and you can tell she is an emotional person especially with that song, 'Someone Like You'.   Beyonce's performance was great (she sang 'Love on Top') and loved the ending - obviously, by the time she was performing, most people knew that she had just confirmed she was pregnant with her first child with husband, rapper, entrepreneur, iconic Jay-Z.  At the end of her performance she unbuttons her jacket to reveal a small bump and starts circling the belly and camera moves onto Jay-Z who is glowing, like really glowing of pure joy, happiness, love and admiration for his wife, the mother of his baby.  Kanye West stood next to him, hugging and obviously being that they are so close, he is super happy for his friends, which is nice.  Speaking of Jay-Z and Kanye.. they also did a surprise performance of their hit, 'Otis'.  The indie rock band, Young the Giant, were awesome - totally rocked the place with the song I personally like 'My Body' - I thought they were going to play the other single, 'Cough Syrup', which is good - but I like 'My Body' better.    The rest of the performances were good, Lady Gaga, was joined by legendary Queen's guitarist, Brian May - a little disappointed in the audience to have not given them a standing ovation, just alone for Brian May, a legend.  HELLO people.   Anyway... you can check out all the performances (including Lil'Wayne, Cobra Starship, and Chris Brown) on MTV's website.

Britney Spears was given the MTV's Vanguard Award...  Lady Gaga in her alter ego, Joe, introduced Britney and she said some really nice and true things about Britney.  When the cameras would turn to Britney, she looked like she was tearing up, which was sweet.  Britney wanted to be an entertainer since she was a little girl and her dreams came true.  She may have had some up and downs and people can joke about pop singers and music, but it's a part of music history.  And that is in fact something she has made herself, contributed much to the music industry, whether it be sales, tours, or some drama - it's in the books.  And then Russell Brand and Tony Bennett spoke for the tribute to Amy Winehouse, which Bruno Mars sang Mark Ronson song, 'Valerie' which Amy was featured in and made the song what it is and Ronson and Winehouse were really great friends, so its really perfect.

Blackthorn... trailer

For some reason Sam Shepard has been one of those actors that I really enjoy on screen.  His presence has alway been so significant even when he is in supporting roles, either way, I just think he is a brilliant actor.   If you don't know Sam Shepard, please look him up - he has a great background, some interesting footnotes involving Patti Smith, theater and in film, you have Baby Boom, Stealing Magnolias, Black Hawk Down, The Notebook and so many more.  In October, Blackthorn will be released and basically Sam Shepard will be playing Butch Cassidy.   Check out the trailer...
