"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2" Trailer 1

It's bittersweet to say that this is the trailer for the last installment of the phenomenal that is 'Harry Potter'. I got into the films kind of late... my sister was a fan of the books and the films and when she returned home from the movies from watching the second film of the franchise, she told me - you have to watch it. So I rented the first one and loved it! I can't wait to see this final film on the big screen... not sure if I want to see it in 3D, because although I enjoy these movies - they can be dark and at times slightly scary. Regardless, I plan on being there to watch this final Potter film. Which as a person who loves movies, I can't help but feel kind of sad not to see these characters grow up and see what happens when they are fully adults. But on another note, can't help but feel as the actors are also dealing with the bittersweet battle - sad not to see the 'Harry Potter' family, whether it being the other actors, crew, etc., every six months or having this chapter reading 'The End'.... anyone else as excited and emotionally over thinking? (lol)

Cinema Verite Trailer -- Premieres this weekend...

Saw this trailer a few months back and immediately was intrigued, never knew they thought of reality TV so early on, especially not in the 70s but wasn't too surprised when it didn't go well with the audience and the family had to deal with judgement from outsiders.
This movie is based on the true story of a documentary called, 'An American Family', which basically had cameras following the Loud family in early 1970s.  The cast is wonderful, you have Diane Lane, Tim Robbins, James Gandolfini, Patrick Fugit, Kathleen Quinlan, Thomas Dekker and so many more.
Premieres this Saturday, April 23 at 9pm on HBO... check your local listings and watch it, tivo it and let me know what your thoughts were on it.

AWOLNATION - "Sail" Red Bull Records

    How addictive is this song?? Heard it once and something about it, just completely hooked me in The lyrics are pretty simple, but something about the song, and in very beginning when he sings;
'This is how I show my love.
I made it in my mind because
I blame it on my ADD baby.'
    Are you addicted yet?

Kurt Cobain, 17 years later & still missed....

I can't believe it's been 17 years since Kurt Cobain's death... I had just entered my teen years & totally living off of watching MTV. It was a Saturday, and Kurt Loder had just appeared on my parents' bedroom 13 inch color tv saying Kurt Cobain had died. Of course, I called my best friend and we were glued to MTV the rest of the day, well, all weekend.. that was usually the case anyway, but instead of laughing and watching Real World (when it was really good and real), we were both in tears. And to just remind some of you, when MTV reported it, his body had been found a couple of days after, but he actually died today, April 5th, 1994.

Just as other significant musicians or actors... I tend to wonder what they would have been doing or been like if they had lived on to become an old man or woman. Would they still have that glow, that spark, that connected with people then. Would he still be creating music and shying away from the fame and buzz. I have my thoughts and theories, but I'll keep them with me, but I bet you all do. His music was an enlightenment for many reasons for me and I always saw such sadness in his eyes. I appreciate Kurt and the music he left behind... so as I said in March, I will post music from Nirvana every month to countdown to the 20th anniversary of Nirvana's Nevermind, but today, I will add a few more songs & pictures to this post to remember Kurt Cobain.

I've decided to post a few songs off of Nevermind and MTV Unplugged... enjoy them!

    A cool video I found...watch the first 4 minutes - pretty cool.

For those of you were/are fans, hope you enjoy this little dedication to Kurt and for those of you who weren't fans, I hope you have found some inspiration... 'music is everything'!!

The Strokes -- NYC's Madison Square Garden... total night to remember, going down in the Rock'n'Roll books!!

A cool article on The Strokes concert this past Friday at New York's own Madison Square Garden... I've been a fan of theirs and really wanted to go but couldn't, but i'm hoping they will come back to NYC soon. Knew a few people who went and they said it was insane - crazy good and then to top it all off, Elvis Costello played a few songs before The Strokes came on stage and he later on joined them on stage and did, 'Taken For a Fool', which is one of my favs off their new album, which closed out the set list. But The Strokes did return for the encore with a handful of songs. Please read the article and check out the awesome performances...

The 46th Annual Academy of County Music Awards - My Fashion Winners...

As always, one of the best couples on the red carpet, whether for the country music awards or to the oscars, Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman have to be one of the most sweet, endearing couples out there, besides both being attractive.  The way they look at each other.. they really do love each other.  And last night's show - they both looked great.. very rock'n'roll sexy - I loved it.

Celine Dion was the first presenter and wow, stunning and think that she gave birth to twin boys about 3 months ago.  wow.

The cool country duo Sugarland looked sharp.. Jennifer's dress had some nice netting.

Darius Rocker looked great.. really liked the colors - very different.  The handsome Robert Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon presented and of course she was glowing and thought her dress was simple but pretty.  Carrie Underwood... loved the color of her dress... thought she took a bit of risk, its not my favorite dress, but the color was stunning.

And lastly the big winner of the night, Miss (soon to be Mrs.) Miranda Lambert.  She looked gorgeous in everything, but really loved the pink dress she performed in.  It was sexy, hot, and loved the shoes.  The other pink dress was sweet and she looked like a barbie doll which was sweet.  The white dress was pretty.. but definitely the tighter pink dress was my favorite and she looked amazing in it!!

The 46th Annual Academy of County Music Awards - Performances...

       * UPDATEI've found good quality videos of some performances I had mentioned... here  you go!
WOW... Carrie Underwood and guest Steven Tyler had the best performance of the night, hands down.  I mean, she comes on and she is rocking out to her own 'Undo It' song and soon enough, here comes the awesome lead singer of Aerosmith, Steven Tyler dressed all in white to help Underwood finish her song.  But the performance doesn't end there, they then sing, 'Walk This Way'.  Let me tell you I grew up to Aerosmith's music all the time, having a dad who was a total rock and roll lover, still is and Steven Tyler was very known at an early age and let me just say he still has it.  He has rock'n'roll lead singer quality to this day.. what a voice!  Damn, that was good!

But the guest stars did not end there... Rihanna joined half of the super country duo, Sugarlands' own Jennifer Nettles.  These two totally showcased how wonderful and great their voices are - its always nice to see girls coming together, no matter what their normal fan base is.  Brad Paisley was also joined by the group, Alabama, which if your a fan of Brad Paisley, you would have loved.   I like Brad Paisley, think he is a cool, funny and very loyal guy.  I do enjoy some of his songs, but never had a connection with his music.  But I totally believe he is a great musician and a true country icon.  Him on that guitar is so enjoyable - his love for the guitar is magic.   I wanted to post one more video but unfortunately, can't find a good enough quality... Zac Brown Band was joined by legendary James Taylor and it was such a good performance.  It was really really nice!

Now onto other performances of the night... okay, so Keith Urban.  That guy rarely does any wrong... and he did nothing wrong last night.  Unfortunately, he didn't win any awards but his performance of 'Without You' was simple but at its best.   Started off with just him on the guitar singing and the current (personal) video playing in the background.  Just love how he puts himself out there everytime - showing how much he cares and loves the music.  Amazing.  Again, no good videos posted of his performance yet... i'll keep an eye and track to post asap.  Another enjoyable performance was The Band Perry, who won best new artist, sang their hit, 'If I Die Young'; very happy they won - love the song and they did a nice job.   And lastly, really enjoyed Sugarland's performance, such a cool, fun duo.  They sang, 'Tonight', and again, Jennifer's voice is amazing.   Almost forgot Taylor Swift.... she performed her song, 'Mean' and she is not always good live... but she did a nice job on this one.  She also won entertainer of the year...was hoping for Keith Urban or Miranda Lambert for that one, but oh well, can't win them all, I guess.  So for now, I'll leave you with these two performances, I'll try to post my other favorites once I find a good quality video.   I'll also do my top best dressed - that will be posted soon too.
UPDATE: So I've found good quality videos of some performances I had mentioned... here  you go!

    Arcade Fire - The Suburbs

I've been meaning to post this video for a while now... all part of the Spike Jonze's short film of Arcade Fire's 'The Suburbs'. This video has a few parts of the 30 minute doc.... but would love to hear your take on this video? Definitely makes you think.

Arcade Fire Covers Rolling Stones in Haiti

Great Rolling Stone's cover by Arcade Fire singing, "The Last Time". They also did Cyndi Lauper's classic hit and a personal favorite, "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun", Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Who'll Stop The Rain" and another favorite band from my childhood Blondie's, "The Tide Is High", but couldn't find them online. Sorry... hoepfully they will one day release a dvd or cd with extra footage (fingers crossed!).

Danger Mouse & Daniele Luppi - Two Against One - starring Jack White

Jack White is featuring on this song... as soon as I heard it, something about it - was just hooked. Norah Jones is also featured on another song, 'Black'. Both songs were released this week and the entire album Rome, a project with producer Danger Mouse and Italian composer Daniele Luppi will be released in May.

PJ Harvey - The Colour Of The Earth (Let England Shake)

PJ Harvey has one of the best voices in music industry - iconic. I've been a fan of her voice since I first heard her single 'Down by The Water' in the mid-90s. I'll be honest though, loved her voice, but never connected too much with her other songs or albums, however, 15 years gone to present day and bam in love with the song, 'The Colour of the Earth' off her latest album, Let England Shake, which is currently out now, so you should totally buy it. So I started researching this album and hearing other songs off this album and enjoying them. Has a very folk sound to it, which would make sense as to why I'm loving the songs. But as it turns out, Let England Shake is a concept album and she asked award winning war photographer Seamus Murphy to direct videos for every song on this album. You can see several videos, on PJ Harvey's website, http://pjharvey.net/home.asp under film. All videos contain report footage around England and of Harvey herself. For, 'The Colour of the Earth', it opens with Harvey and her band singing a cappella, which i'm a huge fan of - if anyone can pull that off...wow. Listen to the words -- they purposely go a cappella for over a minute so there are no distractions and you can listen to them and once in a while you will hear the wind blowing through - very poignant. I hope you enjoy the song and the video and make sure to watch the other videos on her website.
