    Robyn - SNL performance (12-10-11)

Love these two songs and happy that she got to perform them on SNL...

Ryan Adams - Lucky Now Video & David Letterman Performance

Ryan Adams has one of the best soothing voices and I am definitely a fan and his latest album, Ashes & Fire, is receiving wonderful reviews and the album went straight to the top 10 on the billboard charts.  Below is the video for his first single, 'Lucky Now' and I've also included his performance on David Letterman.   One of my biggest enjoyments is hearing/watching/seeing someone play a song by themselves with their one guitar - something so romantic and yet kind of dark, but I do enjoy it.. and he proved why!

One Hundred Paces-The Rise and Fall

Just heard this song and it just stood out... check it out. Anyone else loved it as fast?? Did a quick search and the music will be released sometime early next year... so look out of that!

Korn - Narcissistic Cannibal (ft. Skrillex and Kill The Noise)

New video by one of the best groups, Korn and this is coming from their new album, "Path of Totality". Granted heavy metal or nu metal (a mixture of heavy metal and hip hop) aren't on top of my favorite genre of music but Korn for some reason always stood out to me - Jonathan Davis (lead singer) has one of the best voices - something about him and Korn that just got me hooked.

They were super popular in the mid to late 90s.. check out their classic hits or more like personal favorites, 'Daddy', 'A.D.I.D.A.S.', 'Freak on a Leash', 'Got the Life', and 'Falling Away from Me' and so much more but start with those and let me know what you think of the old and this latest sound!

    Carey Mulligan -- W Magazine

Carey Mulligan is super talented and her current filme, Shame, is getting so much praise of how intense and dark but phenomenal performances by herself and co-star Michael Fassbender (X-Men).

She is going to be on the January issue of W Magazine and the pictures look super cool... check out the slideshow and article below...

The Five Year Engagement - Trailer...

I am not sure if you are all aware, but I really think Jason Segel is hilarious - ever since Saving Sarah Marshall... very funny guy.   Also, Emily Blunt super pretty and talented and this film looks really fun and cool.  Who else is down?

Kid Rock, 'Care' ft T.I. and Angaleena Presley

I'm a fan of Kid Rock and although I may not always agree with his opinions, and besides appearing to be a cool guy, he does look like a man who seriously cares about his Detroit area and USA - and that alone I have a lot of respect for and to top it off he has some really great songs.... wish it was a summer night and watching his concert all over again - good times!

Take Care (Drake cover) Radio 1 Live Lounge & Drake's Original ft. Rihanna

One of the best songs on Drake's new album and had read an article recently that mentioned he wanted to work with a few artists for this latest album, but unfortunately didn't work out.  One of those artists is the great Florence Welch (i.e., Florence + the Machine), so when I read on twitter that Florence + the Machine did a cover of this song - I couldn't wait, had to look it up and so glad that I did. Love the song regardless, but wow Ms. Welch amazing.  I posted a link for the original by Drake ft. Rihanna...do you have a preference?

Florence + the Machine... SNL Performance 11/19/11

AMAs 2011 -- who else watched?

I'm alwasys excited to watch music awards -- and AMAs are all about what the people like and who they want to see win and majority rules on this show!   So I have to say a little disappointed in the show as a whole.  Winners were okay, some VERY happy about (Adele, Nicki Minaj, Foo Fighters - even though they didn't air that award; Rihanna & Beyonce).   Performances were also disappointing - with some many performances you would think but nope.  Minaj was a very cool opening performer, I hate to admit this but Chris Brown's performance, especially the first song was powerful - really enjoyed that song.   Gym Class Heroes were fun with Mr. Adam Levin helping out, The Band Perry were very good too.  Oh I almost forgot the closing act was hilarious (ft. Justin Bieber & David Hasslehoff) too but i'll just post a few...

Best Dressed was a little disappointing as well... just a few stand outs (and how cute is Bieber with his lady).. here you go.

The Iron Lady --- Official UK Trailer

Okay, check this out - this film is definitely going to get some attention.

Mirror, Mirror -- Movie Trailer (another film about Snow White...)

So obviously, this film is definitely taking on a different approach - which is smart because how many dark films about Snow White can one see, right?   The cast (the great Julia Roberts, Nathan Lane, Lily Collins, Mare Winningham, Sean Bean and Armie Hammer) seems pretty cool, the colors look airy and fun and although it doesn't look as good as, Snow White and the Huntsman, it looks cute and funny.  Which one are you more excited about?

The Black Keys - new album, 'El Camino' arriving soon... December 2011!!

The Black Keys is getting ready to release their latest album, El Camino (December 6, 2011) and I'm getting excited to hear the full album.  Both videos below are the first songs released that I've heard and have to say sounds good, sounds real good.   The video for the first song, 'Lonely Boy' is totally different and pretty fun and its had so many hits on youtube in the past few weeks - its over 2M now.   The second song, 'Run right back' also sounds real cool.   I'm excited to hear the whole album just because this twosome band have been around a while and since the last album, Brothers broke out they are finally starting to get much deserved recognition.   Also, a few weeks ago, I posted or tweeted something about GQ's magazine article on Rock Survivors, well they made the cut too... so check it out here,

Rihanna - Upcoming new album, 'Talk that Talk'

Okay, I know everyone loves the first single, 'We Found Love' ft. Calvin Harris and by chance there is someone who does not know the song or seen the video, here you go, http://youtu.be/tg00YEETFzg
The second single is awesome too, 'You Da One' which I've posted the audio below. I've listened to some additional songs off this album and snippets of others - sounds like another good album. Not sure if it will be as good as Loud, but I definitely hear a few hits on this upcoming album. But I've been known to change minds, depending on continuous hearing, videos or other factors, but the album sounds fun and she sounds great. Songs on the album that I enjoyed, 'talk the talk' ft. jay-z, 'where have you been', 'roc me out' and 'birthday cake'. So get ready 'cause this album is going to be released next week, if not mistaken.

    Angels Crest - trailer

I'm calling it right now -- I'm going to have to make sure I have tissues when watching this film. Very cool cast, Thomas Dekker, Jeremy Piven, Lynn Collins, (the great) Elizabeth McGovern, Mira Sorvino, Kate Walsh and Joseph Morgan. Right off the bat, you know this will not be a happy go lucky film, but all involved looks like they have such a history and have pasts that they are trying to forget. Check out the trailer and let me know what you think? In or out?

Being Flynn -- Official Trailer #1

I'm happy to see Robert DeNiro in something that looks super serious and the point of the film looks important - which I love about films. Besides the great DeNiro, Paul Dano, Julianne Moore, Olivia Thirlby, Lili Taylor and Dale Dickey. I so want to see this...

Katy Perry - 'The One That Got Away'... Music video.

I'll be honest here, I'm always kind of reluctant to promote Katy Perry.   I think her songs are very clever and poppy and she has been doing a great thing with her videos to grab attention and they are fun to watch.   However, for me she has the Taylor Swift syndrome - they are good at writing, getting ideas of songs (look at their #s - america & the world enjoys these ladies) but when I hear them at award shows singing live - they lack something.  Anyway, back the point of this post, the video features Diego Luna and its just very cool and at the end of very touching and really liked the Johnny Cash 'You are My Sunshine' song lurking in the background so here is the link to listen to the full audio, http://youtu.be/Ur693_rxQek

Snow White and The Huntsman -- Teaser Trailer...

Most people are aware that there are two 'Snow White' films being done right now... and I must admit I'm a little intrigued by both films.  For one, both films are totally different this one, being a little more tough, angrier - I mean Kristen Stewart playing Snow White is rocking an armor suit - does that look like the Snow White I grew up with no, but is it cool to think of Snow White as a kick ass chick - yes, most definitely!   Charlize Theron, who plays the Evil Queen - does an awesome job looking gorgeous while still evil.   Chris Hemsworth is playing The Huntsman and Sam Claflin is playing Prince Charming.   Check out the teaser trailer below... anyone else excited about this film?   I think they are hoping to release this in the summer... so I'll keep you informed as I heard or find anything out.

    Safe House -- Film Trailer....

I'm totally in!   Denzel Washington, Ryan Reynolds, Sam Shepard, Vera Farmiga, Brendan Gleeson and Robert Patrick all star in this film.   I started watching the trailer and all of a sudden I'm like oh wait, I do remember Reynolds mentioning this film in either GQ magazine or Esquire, but either way this film looks good.  What do you think??

Sara Bareilles 'Gonna Get Over You'

I LOVE this video, been wanting to post it for a while but couldn't find the actual video allowing me to post. But super friendly MTV allowed me to post it and share with you all! Really cute video and Sara Bareilles has a great voice and she is pretty unique in her sounds, which is pretty damn cool. What do you guys think, cute right?

Jessie J - Domino.. Live Montage Music video

Jessie J has an interesting voice and thought she would do good, especially having that first single with new favorite and did well on his own first album, B.O.B. featured on 'Price Tag'.   This song/video is so far my favorite - something about it.  I just think it shows differences in voice and how she has so much talent.  Hope you guys like...

    Shame -- film trailer...

I've read such great stuff about this movie that I am curious to see this film.  I heard that Michael Fassbender is nothing but perfect in this film.  Which, I've heard is a bit on the weird, twisted but dramatic kinda of film.  Carey Mulligan also stars in this film and Steve McQueen directed this little movie but getting a lot of talk especially since it's been hitting the film festivals (Venice, etc.).

Bon Iver - Holocene, music video

I've heard this song so much in the past two weeks and when I'm running around it always makes me stop cause it's so beautiful, but if I'm really paying attention it just makes me think of sorrow, of those who I miss.  I've also thought, it was beautiful for the reason that it makes me think we have one life and we are all flowing in the wind.  It's an enchanting song, but definitely emotional.    Thats the amazing thing about music - we can interpret however we feel, not necessarily what the artist was exactly feeling or trying to convey.   I'll leave you with the video and some of the lyrics...
'And at once I knew I was not magnificant
hulled far from the highway aisle
And I could see for miles, miles, miles'

The Avengers -- Film Trailer (Can't Wait)

I am a huge of the Marvel films (especially Iron Man & Thor) and am excited about this film for a few reasons, the actors, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Samuel L. Jackson and Jeremy Renner.    Who else is excited??

    Albert Nobbs - Movie Trailer

After watching this trailer, I must admit I'm a little intrigued.   Glenn Close stars in this independent film with Mia Wasikowska, Aaron Johnson and Jonathan Rhys Meyers.   'We have all been stuck in our own prison that we ultimately created'.... right?   What do you think of the trailer?

The Other F Word Official Theatrical Trailer (HD)

This documentary looks awesome and I love my punk rockers!

Florence + The Machine - Shake It Out

Florence Welch has one of the best voices out right now (besides Adele obviously - but women have strong phenomenal voices, they use it in very different styles)... Florence + the Machine had an amazing two years with 'Dog Days are Over' from the wonderful album, Lungs. Her powerful voice is something that completely stood out.. I think America started paying attention when she performed at the MTV's Movie Awards and just shocked everyone with that amazing, amazing voice.

So now comes the next album, Ceremonials, which will be released on November 1st. The video below is for the song, 'Shake It Out' and besides being a real cool song, the words really got me.

    Regrets collect like old friends

Here to relive your darkest moments
I can see no way, I can see no way
And all of the ghouls come out to play

And every demon wants his pound of flesh
But I like to keep some things to myself
I like to keep my issues strong
It's always darkest before the dawn

And I've been a fool and I've been blind
I can never leave the past behind
I can see no way, I can see no way
I'm always dragging that horse around

And our love is pastured such a mournful sound
Tonight I'm gonna bury that horse in the ground
So I like to keep my issues strong
But it's always darkest before the dawn

Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah
Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh woaaah

And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh woah

I am done with my graceless heart
So tonight I'm gonna cut it out and then restart
Cause I like to keep my issues strong
It's always darkest before the dawn

What do you think?  Strong song, right?  I know.. good stuff!
Also, check out, 'What the Water Gave Me' which is also on this upcoming album.

My Week With Marilyn (2011) Trailer HD - Marilyn Monroe Movie

You guys all know that I'm a fan of the great iconic Marilyn Monroe and I've been following updates on this film and from the pictures I saw - it looked like it would be good. Unfortunately, something is missing for me in this trailer. Maybe I'll be more intrigued after the second trailer... but maybe it's just me - what do you think?

Another Happy Day -- Red Band Trailer

Okay, I LOVE, LOVE family movies... and this looks crazy interesting. Great cast, you got great actors like Ellen Barkin, Demi Moore, Thomas Haden Church, Ezra Miller, Kate Bosworth and legendary Ellen Burstyn - families has always been complicated for me. So its fun to watch someone's else's family go through a holiday or a family weekend event, like a wedding. What do you think?

J.Cole, Cole World - The Sideline Story

So I finally sampled J. Cole's album, which was released last week and these are the few standouts for me.   Just in case, he is the master mind behind 'Who Dat' and he has a new single/video for 'Can't Get Enough' ft. Trey Songz.   The song I posted, 'Lost ones' is a powerful song - pay attention to the words - real strong.    Other songs I would check out is, 'Nobody's Perfect' featuring the powerhouse Missy Elliot and an actual bonus track called, 'Daddy's Little Girl', which again strong lyrics.  One thing I do appreciate is that J.Cole is very hands on with what he decided to release out and he is very in control with this music.  Check them out and let me know what you think?  If you bought the album, Cole World - The Sideline Story, what you think?

    Adele - Someone Like You

Second official video for one of the best albums (if not the best) of this year... But of course, there are a few songs that I replayed over and over and this was one of them. Such a powerful song and I'm loving the black and white video. It's such a heartbreaking song and yet the video was shot in one of the most romantic places in the world, Paris.

    Nirvana - Nevermind 20th Anniversary!

Twenty years ago this past Saturday, the music industry was totally rattled and Nevermind became a defining album for young kids, teenagers and young adults.  It is now regarded as one of the most significant albums in music history.

I was almost 11 years old when I first saw the videos for 'Come as You Are' and 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' and that was it for me, I needed to know who this band was and where they came from.  I became such an instant fan, would run to the mall and run to Sam Goody (which is no longer around) and Hot Topic and buy every t-shirt of Kurt Cobain and Nirvana, I bought any CDs that were already released and would pre-order their upcoming albums - it was pure crazy love for this band.  I remember going to Europe to visit family and would buy everything and anything I saw with Nirvana or Kurt.  Oh and of course, I bought my first pair of converses shortly after that.. and would constantly write on them and that would continue to go on until my Junior year of high school.   My high school book-bag which I still have somewhere, is still covered in writings and Nirvana & Kurt patches, and other bands that I was into then.

But after all this time, Nirvana & Kurt still matter; and not just to me, but to many others.  Not too sound to cheesy but it's amazing the power music can give off and can emotionally stay connected for life.  I remember the day when I was 13 and heard about Kurt's passing - that will forever be with me.  It's always hard to lose someone but as a girl who just entered her teen years - Nirvana became even more important and I wanted to take it in even more; every song, every word, every note.   One of my favorite songs off Nevermind was and still is 'Something In the Way', 'Lithium' and 'Stay Away'.  What I loved about Nirvana, besides Kurt's amazing and distinct voice; no song is the same, no sound is the same... all great songs on one album and they all sound so different from one another - their entire music catalog is pretty different from one other, which is awesome!
I hope you have days of listening to Nirvana and Kurt's voice and feel connected to it all and hope it reminds you of why Nirvana and Kurt will live on - no matter what.   They will for me.

Nirvana officially made three solid studio albums and of course my favorite, one unplugged album; which is MTV's best ever Unplugged show - EVER.   They have since released many compilations, box sets and live albums and a few DVDs.   However, next week - they are re-releasing the 20th Anniversary Edition of Nevermind.  I have pre-ordered all that I can including the vinyl editions, which I'm really excited about.   I can't wait to revisit this album from the first song to the very last one as I now usually listen to Nirvana in a shuffle like manor, so it should great to hear it all over and see how I feel.

    Drive - what a ride!

I had to give myself time to think over this movie, because as it started to roll credits and I stood up, I was full of mixed emotions but definitely liked the film, loved Ryan Gosling and the rest of the cast and they way the director created and edited this film.

So I watched it last night and I was overwhelmed, but not in a bad way.  Ryan Gosling was brilliant - loved his performance.   There are a few scenes in the movie that was really outstanding and wonderful and the way the director, Nicolas Winding Refn set these scenes up - pure genius.   The elevator scene was really poignant, an intense but touching scene with Carey Mulligan and Gosling (wonderful chemistry) and then turned instantly intense and violent.  I was worried though, because I had read some negative things about Mulligan and Gosling's chemistry, but those opinions were wrong in my opinion - thought they were really brilliant.  The way Refn shot that elevator scene, the slow motion, the dimming of the lights, the music in the background - just real good.  This clip below doesn't show the entire scene but you do see the beginning of what I mentioned before (slow motion, music, lights dimming):

Another great scene, Gosling carrying the little boy in a hallway and again, slow motion, music playing... another real great scene - especially when they slowly turn to Mulligans face - classic scene!    Trust me when I say that I was super hyped up to see this movie and kept telling myself prior to watching, 'no expectations, low expectations' so by the time I sat down to watch it - I was really calm and not putting too much pressure on the film.  When I walked out of that theatre I was little overwhelmed about how I felt about the movie - had a ton of different emotions, but did enjoy the movie.   Loved Gosling and Mulligan, Oscar Isaac, who played Mulligans husband and Kaden Leos, who played Mulligans son - they were really great to watch.  I was a little shocked in certain aspects - I don't want to spoil it for those who have not yet seen it, but just be cautioned.   I did enjoy the intensity of the film and the music score was well done - although the beginning of the film, I was reminded of 80s films, the pink lettering and the heavy 80s influenced sound (possible homage to the great classic 80s films).   Loved seeing Gosling drive and the song 'A Real Hero' by College playing in the background, lyrics goes, "A real human being, And a real hero".

So now that I've had time to digest all my feelings, I have to say I understand it more and have a much more appreciation for Goslings character and of the film as a whole.  I also appreciate the way this film made me feel so all over the place with my feelings towards the characters, towards the film and towards my own life.
Driver is a person who is quiet, private, keeps to himself and after an encounter with this woman and her child, his whole life changes, the way he feels and sees his life moving forward and wants to keep that protected and you see him possibly going over the edge in wanting to protect that.   If you care for someone, how far would you go to protect them?   A real human being can be a hero - it can be done in small ways or in a huge destructive way - but we, as human beings are all different and are all set up differently and I would hope that everyone has felt or has had a safe zone once in your life.  Most people have a limit of how far they are willing to go to protect that person as some others don't have a limit.  Either way, this story is about a human being who followed a specific route and as life does, something happens that changes his way and we get to watch him feel something that he loved and held close to him.  And that is something that we all have felt or (hopefully) will feel at some point in our life.  I hope I did not give too much away and just go watch the movie on a big screen.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - Official Trailer 2 (2011)

So a new trailer has been released for the upcoming film, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I've probably said this on another post or via twitter, but this movie seems eerily cool, dark and twisted - which seems like a fun movie to watch, to keep you on your toes. The cast is great, Daniel Craig, Stellan Skarsgard, Christopher Plummer, Robin Wright, Joely Richardson and Rooney Mara. Of course, the brilliant David Fincher had such a wonderful experience with the super cool, smart, bad ass Trent Reznor as he did the music score/soundtrack for one of the best films of 2010, in my opinion, The Social Network, he asked Reznor to work on this films' score and the great Karen O from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs also joined. The song you hear in the trailer is the sampling of the iconic, legendary Led Zepplelin's 'Immigrant Song' mixed and updated to Reznor's liking with Karen O's amazing voice and it totally fits the eerie feel of the teaser and full trailer. I've been thinking about reading the book prior to watching this on the big screen, but I'll have to think about this -- do I want to know the ending now or when I'm watching the film on the edge of my seat...decisions, decisions. What do you think of the new trailer??

    J. Edgar Trailer -- FINALLY

Here you go... been waiting for this trailer!

    2011 Emmys...

Let me start by saying how wonderful was it to see the great Kyle Chandler win FINALLY for his outstanding performance of Coach Taylor on one of the best shows I have ever watched (religiously) Friday Night Lights.  And thats one of two that FNL won... Jason Katims won for best writing for the last episode... which was well deserved - such a wonderful show!!!   I was so happy and felt he was so shocked as he was probably not the only one, but regardless, he did deserve it.  Shoot, he should have been nominated every year for his performance.   His performance and character was inspiring!

The rest of the show was pretty good... was very happy for Modern Family, although - I love Ty Burrell, part of me wishes Ed O'Neil won for best supporting actor.   Nonetheless, I am happy.  I was pretty okay with all the winner in every category.  I did love the whole best actress for comedy... Melissa McCarthy is hilarious, but again, part of me wishes Martha Plimpton won.   But its all good - its all fun and games at the end of the night.

Now for the real important stuff, fashion... best dressed.  The color of the night was red, everywhere we turned there was someone wearing a shade of red... Connie Britton, Nina Dobrev, Kerry Washington, Martha Plimpton and emmy winner Kate Winslet.  Check out my all my favorites below...

Vampire Diaries 3x01 - Stefan Calls Elena

Best scene from last night's season 3 premiere of The Vampire Diaries...

    Justin Theroux - GQ Article...

Justin Theroux seems like such a cool guy... I think the first time I saw him was on Sex in the City and automatically thought he was cute, and then he showed up on Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, then Six Feet Under and kept going, most recently in Your Highness (unlike some people, I liked) and upcoming Wanderlust. But thats not all, this guy is a writer and producer, hello, he wrote Tropic Thunder and Iron Man 2 and was the executive producer on Tropic Thunder. Something about him, you know - he looks so bad ass, but super chill guy; type of guy you can sit have a real conversation and yet be able to poke fun at stuff. GQ magazine published a small but cool article on Theroux and a slidehow of photos (best part)... go check it out.

    PREMIUM RUSH - Official Trailer

Had to post this trailer being that the cool Joseph Gordon-Levitt is leading the cast, which also includes the fantastic Michael Shannon, Jamie Chung and Dania Ramirez. I believe I couple of months back, I mentioned this movie or posted a teaser on this film of course, it totally reminded me of that film with Kevin Bacon, Quicksilver. What do you think, are you going to watch this film?

    Leonardo DiCaprio - GQ Cover

Oh Oh Oh... this has to be one of many magazines I will own with Leonardo DiCaprio on the cover! This guy is one of my top actors and I've followed him since I was a young girl, not even in my teens, watching him on TV's Growing Pains, and my lord, he keeps getting better and better! He is up there with Johnny Depp, Robert Downey Jr. and a couple of others - they can do no harm. Don't get me wrong, no one is perfect, but I have a great respect for them as actors and these men are adorable in their own way. Back to DiCaprio besides being a phenomenal actor (www.imdb.com), he is also a producer and environmentalist, which he takes very seriously and in the article, www.GQ.com had done, he mentions how politics concentrates on the wrong items. When you go through the slideshow (link below), read the experts from the article and don't forget to purchase the magazine!

In the next two months he will be promoting, J. Edgar, directed by legendary Clint Eastwood, which I can not wait to see!   I'm hoping DiCaprio gets nominated and wins, especially an Oscar.  After all these years of constant outstanding, brilliant performances, he needs to receive one for Outstanding Lead Actor, like yesterday.  DiCaprio is currently filming The Great Gasby, which reunites him with his Romeo & Juliet director, Baz Luhrmann and co-stars are his longtime friend, Tobey Maguire, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton, Isla Fisher and Gemma Ward.  I can't wait for this film either, well who am I kidding - I am always anticipating his films, just because he always nails every role.

    Michelle Williams - Vogue Magazine

Vogue Magazine did a real honest article on Michelle Williams, who will portray someone she always loved, the legendary, iconic Marilyn Monroe - someone I have also loved and have always had this idealism and wonder of the women she was and all that surrounded her to the very end.  My Week with Marilyn will be released in November and I can't wait to watch it on the big screen.  Williams' is honest in how she approached this film and how at the end it all came together well. Please check out the article and here are a few pics, but after reading the article, check out the slideshow. Pretty, pretty photos!
